DENVER — On the 10th day of protests in Denver, thousands marched alongside several members of the Denver Broncos in solidarity against the killing of George Floyd and what organizers call systematic racism in police departments across the country.

“I think it is wonderful just seeing all the athletes, just getting everybody out just getting their word in,” said Dwight Sweeney, a protester attending the rally with his son. “I think it is going to take everybody to make a change.”

After five days of peaceful protests across the city, demonstrators say they are encouraged by the focus of the message, of change in policing, that was at the center of the speeches by Broncos players.

“Not all cops are bad,” explained another protester. "But the ones that are hurting people like George Floyd need to be accountable and need to stop it. It is not cool, it is not nice, it is not good.”

Protests in anger over the killing of George Floyd have spread to towns and cities the world over, encouraging demonstrators here in Denver.

“I think that it is great that we are not fighting this fight by ourselves. There are other people that are behind us and willing to recognize that change needs to be made.”
