FRISCO, Colo. (AP) — Frisco City Council is moving forward with a plan to build 36 new workforce housing units in town.
Summit Daily News reports that the decision was part of an effort to solve a countywide housing shortage that has caused workers to leave and squeezed hiring at several businesses. The town of Frisco is located between four ski resorts that attract skiers around the world.
City officials say their partner on a 24-housing unit project Brynn Grey Partners have agreed that 75 percent of the units will be set aside for people working at least 30 hours a week in Frisco or the surrounding Tenmile Basin year-round.
City council is also looking at creating affordable housing options for town employees, local business employees and Colorado Department of Transportation employees.
