Cops run after driver who crashed into cruiser

A driver crashed into a cop car in Denver, seriously damaging the patrol vehicle, but the officers got out and chased the suspect on foot.

The a man in a Jeep Wrangler crashed into the patrol car at West Florida Avenue and South Irving Street at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, according to Denver Police.

The driver of the Jeep kept driving and the two officers in the patrol car got out and ran after him, police said.

The suspect got out of the Jeep about a block away and ran.

Officers chased the suspect for a few blocks and caught him at 1400 South King Street.

Both officers went to the hospital to be checked out, just as a precaution.

Investigators are working to determine if the man had been drinking before the crash.
