Thousands of volunteers are expected to show up in Loveland Friday and Saturday to help pack food to send to starving people around the world.

The effort is called "NoCo is Slammin Famine." (NoCo is an abbreviation for northern Colorado.)

Volunteers will be packing food at the Ranch Events Complex to help the Feed My Starving Children organization.

Last year, 2,800 volunteers packed over 650,000 meals.

"It was amazing," organizers said. "Adults, families and children from all over the northern Colorado region pitched in and made a huge difference in the lives of thousands of kids all over the world in conjunction with Feed My Starving Children."

Volunteers will be working in two-hour shifts, between 12:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday and between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday.
