AURORA, Colo. — A multi-vehicle crash closed all southbound lanes of Interstate 225 at Illiff Avenue in Aurora Tuesday afternoon. The highway reopened about three hours later.
Aurora police tweeted a photo of the scene, showing at least two vehicles were involved in the crash just one mile from the Parker Road exit.
Police said a wrong-way driver caused the crash. However, they said they do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role.
Southbound traffic was being diverted onto Mississippi and Illiff. Police were asking drivers to stay out of the area. They said the area would remain closed up until 5 p.m.
Police said there were no significant injuries.
