ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. – Two young brothers, who had been missing since Saturday afternoon, were found safe late Sunday.
The Adams County Sheriff's Office tweeted: "Final Update: the boys have been found! They are both safe."
Family members spent all day Sunday searching for 14-year-old Adrian, and 11-year-old Arnie, who went missing Saturday afternoon.
According to the sheriff's office, the two brothers, both with autism, were last seen near 84th Avenue and Huron Street, around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Their mom told Denver7 that Adrian became angry when she disciplined him for missing school.
"He got very upset," she said, adding that Adrian left the house through a window, and took Arnie, with him.
"When I went back looking for them, I couldn't find them," she said.
The mom said she was worried because of the cold overnight temperatures, and because the boys didn't have access to medication they need to control anxiety.
Her worries were compounded after the boys' backpacks were found at a nearby library.
"I don't know if someone picked them up," she said.
Choking with emotion, she told Denver7, late Sunday afternoon, that she just wanted her boys to come home.
"I love them very much," she said. "I don't want anything to happen to them. We need lots of prayers to find them soon."
Her prayers were answered several hours later.
Authorities haven't said yet where the boys were found — just that they were safe.
The sheriff's office had earlier provided a description of the two boys. Adrian is 14 years old, 4 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 110 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and pants. His younger brother, Arnie, is 11, 4 feet, 2 inches tall, 100 pounds and was wearing a blue coat, yellow and black sweater, jeans and red shoes.
The boys' mom texted Denver7 to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
She said she's glad her boys are home.
