LITTLETON, Colo. — As college students head back to school over the next few weeks, paying for tuition may be weighing on some of their minds pretty heavily. On Friday a group of Mile High Youth Corps members is finishing up a summer project at Chatfield State Park. In return, their service work will help them pay for school.

The land conservation crews visited different parks around Colorado preserving and maintaining trails. Once the teams finish up the term on Friday, each member will earn an education award to help them pay for upcoming classes or student loans. The amount of money in the award depends on the number of service hours worked during the term.

Mile High Youth Corps has teams in 15 counties around the state. The organization employs 140 land conservation members along with dozens more in energy and water conservation, affordable housing and health and wellness. In all, members will contribute more than 100,000 service hours in 2017.
