GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A Mesa County couple is facing several counts of child abuse charges after a child was suspected of having ingested a potentially lethal amount of marijuana, according to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.

Forrest Nash, 32, and Cory Nash, 28, were arrested Tuesday following a Nov. 30 report of child abuse after a young child, suspected to have ingested a dangerous amount of marijuana, was brought to St. Mary's Hospital in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.

The child was flown to Salt Lake City Children's Hospital for emergency care, according to a sheriff's office release. The child is now recovering.

Investigators later discovered additional incidents of child abuse involving five other children ranging in age from 8-13, the sheriff's office said. Those incidents were alleged to have occurred from January of this year to November.

The couple is each facing 11 counts of child abuse causing injury, no injury and serious bodily harm and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Forest Nash is facing an additional charge of dispensing marijuana to a minor (2 counts).

Cory Nash and Forrest Nash are currently being held at the Mesa County Detention Facility.
