It appears the Denver metro area's first baby of the year was born 10 minutes into the new year at Children's Hospital Colorado.
Jaxton Wayne Kitchin is the son of new parents, Shawna and Craig Kitchin.
Jaxton weighed in at 5 lb. 4 oz and was 17.5 inches long.
Children's Hospital Colorado said the family is doing well.
"We are happy and excited to see what's next," Shawna Kitchin said.
Jaxton missed being Colorado's first baby of 2016 by just a few minutes. Cora Menges, who was born at UCHealth's Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs at exactly 12:00 a.m., took that honor.
However, Jaxton may end up in school someday with Cora because Jaxton's family is from Colorado Springs.
