Should Englewood sell recreational marijuana?

Englewood will hold a series of public hearings to find out how residents feel about the potential legalization of recreational marijuana sales in the city.

The meetings will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Englewood Civic Center, 1000 Englewood Parkway; at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Malley Center, 3380 South Lincoln St.; and at 6 p.m. June 2 at the Englewood Civic Center.

Some of the issues to be addressed include suggested distance buffers from pot shops to schools, churches and residential areas, should sales be permitted.

The city put in place a ban on recreational marijuana retail sales, cultivation, manufacturing and testing facilities in 2013. But a non-binding ballot question that fall showed residents in support of lifting the ban.
