EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. – An Eagle County man who reportedly went missing while scouting for mountain lion tracks earlier this week has been located, officials said Thursday.
John Smith was in contact with the Vail Mountain Rescue Group late Thursday morning, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
Smith was last heard from early Tuesday morning near Eagle, where he told another person that he was scouting, according to a Facebook post from his mother, which was shared by the Eagle County Sheriff's Office. His cell phone was likely dead but it was last pinged in Edwards about 1 a.m. Tuesday, the post said.
Smith was driving a silver four-door Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, with a camper shell.
