ESTES PARK, Colo. – A man who was reportedly shooting a gun inside a home in Estes Park early Sunday was injured after an interaction with authorities who responded to the incident.

Shots were fired after deputies from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office and a police officer from Estes Park arrived, but it was unclear who fired the shots or if the man was struck by gunfire from the officers.

The incident happened about 2:45 a.m. in the 1100 block of Griffith Court in Estes Park. Authorities responded to the home on a welfare check after a report that a woman was trapped inside the home with a man who was shooting a gun.

The deputies and officers approached the home and contacted the man. During the interaction, shots were fired and the man was injured and flown to a hospital, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The Loveland Police Department, which is investigating the shooting, identified the suspect in the shooting as 54-year-old Edward Daniel, Seguin, of Estes Park. Police said he had been released from a hospital as of Monday and was booked into the Larimer County jail for investigation on charges of felony menacing, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, prohibited use of a weapon and a crime involving domestic violence, which is a sentence enhancer if he is convicted.

The Loveland Police Department is investigating the shooting. More information was not released.
