A Denver officer is the target of a lawsuit filed Wednesday.
Surveillance video taken outside of the bar 1-Up on Blake Street shows Officer Choice Johnson shoving Brandon Schreiber in July 2014.
Schreiber fell down stairs and was hurt.
The department suspended Johnson for 30 days because of excessive force. The suspension was overturned.
This wasn't the first excessive force complaint filed against the officer.
Schreiber spoke to Denver7 about his decision to sue, saying, "I couldn't believe it. I honestly thought it was a joke. I couldn't actually relate his actions to my career but I wouldn't expect to have a job acting the way he did."
Johnson says the video doesn't show the suspect acting out.
An appeals officer says Johnson used a simple, non-excessive technique to get the man to sit down.
