JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. -- It was a beautiful morning to watch the sunrise on Lookout Mountain when Eric Rooney noticed people dumping trash.
He said two red cars pulled up and the people inside made several trips to dump several garbage bags.
"They dumped about four trash bags worth of cups, bottles, mail, plastic bags," said Rooney.
He immediately called police and took pictures of the cars. An officer spotted the cars but could not chase them due to a strict pursuit policy. Officers can only give pursuit when the suspect has attempted to or committed a violent felony.
According to the Golden Police Department, license plates on the cars did not match the vehicles.
"I just hope the laws are enforced because when laws are enforced then people tend to follow them," said Rooney.
The illegal dumping comes after recent vandalism on Lookout Mountain. In August a YouTube video showed a man with a can of orange spray paint defacing a rock.
