DENVER – A man was shot and killed Friday afternoon in an alleyway just north of E. 11th Ave. between Xenia Street and Yosemite Street, police said. A juvenile male was arrested.
Denver police said just after 12:30 p.m. they were investigating a shooting at the location. The department said shortly after 2 p.m. the man had been pronounced dead at the scene.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner identified the victim as 27-year-old Zuwayidi Byiringiro. Street Fraternity, an organization that provides "a place of brotherhood and personal growth for urban young men," has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser for Byiringiro's family.
Officers were still at the scene late into the afternoon.
The suspect, whose name has not been released because he is a juvenile, was arrested by Denver police on suspicion of first-degree murder Friday evening.
