COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Officials say a Colorado Springs man who told police he shot a 21-year-old woman after she asked him to help end her life has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.
The Gazette reports 22-year-old Joshua Thomsen received 46 years for second-degree murder and four years for tampering with evidence in the killing of Amy Shrieves.
An arrest affidavit says Thomsen told police that on April 2, 2019, Shrieves texted him saying she wanted to die, but wasn’t able to do it herself. Documents say they drove to Eleven Mile Reservoir, where Thomsen shot her four times.
He then drove to a Walmart and called 911.
