DENVER – The man reported missing at Harvey Park Lake Sunday afternoon was found dead in the lake near the shore Tuesday morning, Denver police said.

Dr. Gordon Ham, MD, 74, had been boating with his dog on the lake on Sunday, the Denver Fire Department said on Sunday. But later in the afternoon, neighbors spotted an empty boat that came ashore and called 911. Ham was an area OB/GYN.

Ham’s dog was later located but authorities could not find Ham, police said Monday.

Police reported that Ham walked with a “significant disability.”

They said Tuesday morning just before 10:30 a.m. that he had been found dead “in the area of the 4600 block of W. Evans,” which is where the lake and park are located. Police clarified that Ham’s body was found in the water close to the shore.

Police said the investigation into Ham’s death was ongoing and said the coroner would provide his cause of death.
