BYERS, Colo. – A man died after crashing his vehicle into the side of a passing train near Byers Wednesday night.
Troopers say the man was attempting to cross railroad tracks on Peoria Road just off Interstate 70 when his vehicle struck the side of the passing Union Pacific freight train.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other passengers in the car. No injuries were reported onboard the train.
The crossing where the crash occurred does not have lights or control arms installed.
