LOVELAND, Colo. -- His escape from the law was short-lived. A handcuffed man who deputies say escaped from the back of a patrol car was arrested Thursday afternoon.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said deputies arrested William Robert Morgan, 37, in Loveland Wednesday afternoon on an outstanding warrant.
"Morgan was handcuffed and placed into a patrol vehicle," officials said.
After Morgan was arrested, deputies said they made contact with Harmony Fawn Schoenfelder, 35, who also had an outstanding warrant.
"While Schoenfelder was being arrested, a deputy returned to the patrol vehicle to check the status of Morgan. It was discovered that Morgan had escaped from the vehicle," the sheriff's office said.
Deputies, along with Loveland Police and a K-9, searched for Morgan, but he escaped. An investigation later led deputies to a nearby apartment where he was taken into custody around 1 p.m. Thursday.
He is now facing a felony escape charge on top of the other charges in the original warrant.
