JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — A man is in custody after he allegedly burglarized a gas station and bank in Jefferson County early Thursday morning.

Around 3:22 a.m., a 39-year-old suspect allegedly burglarized a gas station convenience store — a DinoMart at a Sinclair gas station — and attempted to burglarize a nearby Chase Bank around S. Kipling Parkway and W. Coal Mine Avenue after driving a minivan into both buildings, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to the area after receiving a report of a car crash, but quickly learned there was more going on when they saw the man with his hands full of items, including Twinkies, chips, batteries and possibly alcohol, walking from the damaged convenience store back to his vehicle at Chase Bank, according to the sheriff's office.

The man was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities said they are investigating if he was under the influence.

It didn't appear that he successfully burglarized the bank, authorities said.
