Man dies after falling from First Flatiron

BOULDER, Colo. – An 18-year-old died after falling from the First Flatiron Sunday evening.

Rescuers, sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to Chautauqua Park around 6 p.m. Sunday and found the man near the bottom of the First Flatiron. He was not breathing and did not have a pulse, deputies said.

Medical crews attempted to treat the man but his injuries were so severe he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appeared the man was climbing alone near the top of the First Flatiron and even posted a photo on social media shortly before he fell, deputies said. There doesn’t appear to be any foul play involved in the man’s death.

Officials have not released the man’s identity, pending notification of family.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office and the county coroner continue to investigate.
