AURORA, Colo. — An Aurora man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old woman to death.

Marcos Gutierrez, 21, has been formally charged with first-degree murder after deliberation in connection to the death of Airica May Beaty on April 11.

That evening, Aurora police responded to a 911 call from the Amber Apartments, which is located along the 1940 block of N. Peoria Street, and found Beaty bleeding from stab wounds in one of the apartments. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

A man was also found with stab wounds in the apartment, police said. His injuries were not life-threatening.

At the time, police said they believed the incident was isolated and that there wasn’t a threat to the community.

Gutierrez’s preliminary hearing is set for July 24.
