ARVADA, Colo. — About three and a half weeks after a suspect allegedly stole a vehicle at gunpoint and opened fire on officers, the Arvada Police Department announced they had made an arrest.
Police said the suspect, 25-year-old Joseph Saiz, was arrested by Arvada officers on Wednesday.
He is accused of stealing a person's pickup truck at gunpoint on Dec. 14, 2019 in the area of W. 68th Avenue and Gray Street. When officers located Saiz, he allegedly fled in the pickup before crashing it and running away, police said. As he fled, he fired several rounds from a gun, police said. Police weren't able to catch Saiz at the time, but took a female passenger into custody.
Saiz faces the following charges:
- Aggravated robbery
- Vehicular eluding causing bodily injury
- First-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft
- Four counts of felony menacing
- Possession of a weapon by a previous offender
- Reckless endangerment
