Police arrested a man for having a gun at a school in Colorado Springs Tuesday night.
A security officer at Everest College reported seeing a man with a gun a around 8 p.m.
Police detained a man in the area who matched the description, but he did not have a gun.
Officers searched the area and found a .357 revolver in a trash can right outside the doors to the school. The gun was not loaded, police said.
Witnesses positively identified the man that police detained as the suspect who had the gun on school property.
The man was taken into custody for possessing a weapon on school property - which is a felony.
The suspect was later booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
