FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A standoff ended without injury in Fort Collins Sunday and police are now releasing details about the suspect they arrested.
Officers say they received an emergency call from a witness reporting a burglary on Laporte Avenue early Sunday morning. Response led a suspect, now identified as Richard Rader, to hide away in the back of the business and refuse to leave.
Police say they had to use pepperballs, a chemical crowd-control agent, to prevent Rader from escaping. Eventually, after roughly two and a half hours of a standoff, police arrested Rader.
In a report, officers noted they're familiar with Rader, having arrested him on Sept. 7 for a burglary in August.
Rader faces charges of second-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and violation of bail bond conditions.
