Man arrested following 9 hour hostage standoff, explosions

AURORA, Co – A man is under arrest following a nine hour standoff which ended in an explosion.

Aurora Police responded to the 11900 block of East Archer Place on reports of a domestic disturbance around 7:30pm Saturday evening.

There, police say, 35-year-old Curtis Jackson Jr was barricaded inside a residence with a woman and three children held hostage.

A SWAT team and hostage negotiators were called to the scene. Police say they urged Jackson Jr to surrender for hours.

At 4:30am Sunday morning, police used an explosive to blow out the door to enter the residence.

The man was taken into custody without further incident. The woman and three children were uninjured in the blast.

Jackson Jr was arrested for multiple charges, including False Imprisonment, Assault and Battery, Failed to Obey, and Obstructing a Peace Officer.

 

Police say he has outstanding warrants for Tampering with a Witness and Domestic Violence.
