MONTE VISTA, Colo. – A fawn’s death posted on social media has led to charges against a New Mexico man, Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced Monday.

Wildlife officials have accused Michael Garcia, 36, of allowing his dog to chase and kill a fawn near the Conejos River in southern Colorado.

Authorities said Garcia then posted photos of the dead fawn on social media, which was viewed by a tipster and reported to the agency, a CPW release stated.

Garcia, who was working as a river guide during the incident, was cited Tuesday and fined more than $1,300 and docked 20 points on his hunting license, which could lead to the suspicion of his hunting and fishing privileges.

If he does not pay the fine, he will be required to appear in court on Sept. 16.
