Man accused of hate crime in alleged gun incident at Fort Collins apartment complex

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man is being accused of threatening another man with a gun while making derogatory racial statements toward the victim.

Lawrence Roth, 62, was arrested and booked into the Larimer County Jail on the several charges including felony menacing and bias-motivated crime.

On Tuesday morning, Fort Collins police received a call from a man who said that he was hiding from a man with a gun at the Briarwood Apartment Complex, 172 Hillcrest Drive, according to a police statement released Wednesday.

The victim reported that Roth threatened him while making derogatory racial statements. Police said Roth then left the area on a bicycle but was later located and arrested.

No other details related to the incident have been released.
