LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A man wanted for allegedly attacking an RTD bus driver Thursday morning apparently thought it would be safe to take another bus in the same clothes.
Anthony Mata, 27, was on another RTD bus in Westminster Sunday when the driver recognized him from a widely-released photo. Police say Mata wore the same clothes captured on surveillance cameras the day of the attack.
Mata is accused of assaulting the bus driver after refusing to purchase valid fare to ride the bus. It happened around 5 a.m. near West Colfax Avenue and Miller Street in Lakewood.
The driver sustained several injuries including a broken nose.
Mata was booked on charges of second-degree assault and endangering public transportation and utility transmission.
