LOVELAND, Colo. -- A father and his son are recovering from mild hypothermia after four teenage boys came to their rescue in Lonetree Reservoir Monday.

The Loveland father and his 11-year-old son were kayaking in the ice-cold waters when both crafts overturned, the Loveland Reporter-Harold reported.

The father’s other son, viewing from ashore, saw the two were in trouble and quickly got the attention of the four teens in a fishing boat nearby.

The teens rushed to the father and son kayakers and got them safely into their boat. Paramedics arrived and transported the two to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Berthoud High School teens told the Loveland newspaper that they would not have been at the reservoir if it weren’t for the Presidents Day holiday.
