LOVELAND, Colo. — A Loveland police officer injured a man who was armed with a knife and having a mental health crisis Monday night.
A 911 call came into Loveland Police Dispatch at approximately 6:58 p.m. for a disturbance in the 1600 block of Tennessee Street. Investigators later confirmed a person in the home called to request police assistance for a family member who was experiencing a mental health crisis and actively damaging the home.
Once on scene, the officer found a man, later identified as 19-year-old Alexander Domina, in the backyard of his home with a knife, according to the Loveland Police Department.
Investigators say Domina moved forward toward the officer during the confrontation, and the officer fired several shots at the man, injuring him.
LPD is on-scene in the 1600 blk. Tennessee Ave. for an Officer Involved Shooting. Various agencies are in the area investigating. There are no outstanding threats to the public. Please stay clear of the area. The investigation is on-going and updates will follow.

The man was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies where he is being treated for his injuries. No information was released on the severity of his injuries.
No officers were injured, and police say there are no outstanding threats to the public. The officer was identified on Thursday, Aug. 19, as Patrol Officer Eddie Luzon. Luzon has been with the Loveland Police Department since 2019, a spokesperson said via Twitter. He is currently under paid administrative leave, per department policy.
The 8th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team responded to take over the investigation with the Fort Collins Police Services leading the agency.
The investigation remains ongoing.
