Elephant cancer research inspires campaign

DENVER -- September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Kneaders Bakery and Cafe will be selling elephant shaped cookies to raise money to fight childhood cancer.

The elephant shape was inspired by groundbreaking research at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Utah. Dr. Josh Schiffman has been researching elephant DNA and studying why elephants don't get cancer.

Researchers are hoping proteins found in elephants can be used to fight cancer cells in humans.

All through the month of September, customers at Kneaders can support this research by purchasing an elephant cookie. Other merchandise can also be purchased on their website.
