LITTLETON, Colo. -- A Littleton girl is celebrating her 13th birthday, but instead of the typical teenage birthday party, Jozie Griffin and her friends are helping the less fortunate.

Sunday afternoon, she and her friends took bags full of gifts -- like socks, winter hats and gloves -- and took them to downtown Denver to hand them out to homeless individuals in hopes of brightening their day.

“I know that a lot of people are less fortunate than us, and I hope these bags give them a little more fortune,” Griffin said.

“I wasn't surprised. She's got such a big heart,” her mother Heather Colvert said.

They handed out close to 50 bags Sunday afternoon. Jozie's actual birthday isn't until this coming Friday, but she's hoping this becomes an annual tradition for her birthday and says she may even try to do the same for Christmas.
