A bolt of lightning stripped the bark right off a large tree in Boulder overnight.
The lightning strike hit a large ash near 26th Street and Kalmia Avenue just after midnight Tuesday, according to Mitchell Byars with the Boulder Camera.
The lower part of the trunk no longer has any bark and you can see large strips of bark on the ground around it.

The tree no longer has any bark on its entire lower trunk, with large strips of bark strewn around it.
