Lightning starts fire in attic of Broomfield home

BROOMFIELD, Colo. – A lightning strike is believed to have sparked a fire in the attic of a home in Broomfield Friday morning, firefighters said.

Crews responded to the home in the 14000 block of Irving Street around 5 a.m. and quickly extinguished the flames.

Firefighters said they believed the fire was caused by lightning, as a line of thunderstorms was moving through the area at the time.

There were no immediate reports of injuries associated with the fire.
