Good morning! Here’s what you need to know today, Friday, May 4, 2018.

1. Crunch time for state legislature
There are only a few days left in the current legislative session and lawmakers have a lot of their to-do lists. One of the bills many people will be watching is the so-called "Red flag" bill, which would allow judges to temporarily confiscate guns from someone having a mental health crisis. The House takes its final vote today, then it's off to the Senate.

2. Hawaii volcano erupts
People living near Kilauea in Hawaii have had to evacuate their homes due an eruption that sent lava flowing near homes. About 1,700 people are under mandatory evacuations.

3. It's Derby weekend
The 144th running of the Kentucky Derby takes place this Saturday, so bust out the big hats and whip up some mint juleps.

4. Nice weather ahead
After a couple of gray, rainy days, sunshine returns for the weekend. Expect mostly sunny conditions with temperatures in the 70s.

5. May the 4th
Today is May 4th, the unofficial Star Wars holiday. May the 4th be with you heading into the weekend.
