DENVER – Drumroll, please: The best beer made in Colorado, as chosen by beer enthusiasts, is the Milk Stout Nitro from Longmont-based Left Hand Brewing.

Zymurgy, a magazine published by the American Homebrewers Association, asked its readers to name their 20 favorite commercially-available beers. The magazine then compiled the results into a list of the 50 “best” beers in the country.

The title of “best” beer goes to the Two Hearted Ale from Bell’s Brewery in Michigan.

Left Hand’s Milk Stout Nitro came in at number 18. It was the brewery’s only beer that made the list. Oskar Blues, also based in Longmont, had three beers included in the list, while Fort Collins-based Odell had two beers.

Here are all seven Colorado-made beers that were included in the list (a ‘T’ means that beer was tied with another for that spot):

18. Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro
T22. Odell IPA
T27. New Belgium La Folie
T27. Odell 90 Shilling
T27. Oskar Blues Ten FIDY
T43. Oskar Blues Dale’s Pale Ale
T47. Oskar Blues Old Chub

The magazine also asked readers to identify the best breweries in the country, and six Colorado companies made the list, with Odell beating out the others:

11. Odell Brewing Company – Fort Collins
14. Oskar Blues Brewery – Longmont
T16. New Belgium Brewing – Fort Collins
18. Avery Brewing Company – Boulder
T20. Great Divide Brewing Company – Denver
T20. Left Hand Brewing Company – Longmont
