LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A pregnant woman is pleading for her car back after it was stolen Sunday night while she was loading it up to head to the hospital to have her second child.

Codie Rayl and her boyfriend had just finished loading a new car seat, an overnight bag for her 2-year-old son, and bags for her and her new daughter into her silver Chrysler 300 around 7 p.m. at the Lamar Station Apartments.

As the boyfriend came back inside to grab Rayl’s son and help her to the car, she says they noticed someone backing the car out of the driveway, then speeding off.

Rayl says her boyfriend chased the suspect down while yelling his girlfriend was in labor, and was eventually able to grab hold of the door handle. But Rayl said the suspect sped off, throwing her boyfriend to the street.

Rayl says she called 911, and paramedics arrived to take her, her boyfriend and son to the hospital.

Staff at the hospital sent her back home as she was only 3 cm dilated, but she says without a car, she won’t be able to get to the hospital when her contractions become more frequent. She remains in labor.

“All of our kids’ things were in the car – my baby girl’s brand new car seat we were finally able to afford, her first outfits and her diaper bag and new bottles and Pampers,” Rayl told Denver7. “They took everything.”

She says she is simply asking for the thieves to return her car so she doesn’t have to struggle during such an important time in her family’s life.

The family has started a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for a new car.
