LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Police said Wednesday they had arrested a man in connection with one of the two deadly stabbings that happened at Belmar Park on Aug. 15.
Vicente Enrique Orozco, 19, was arrested just after noon on Wednesday in the stabbing of 61-year-old Stevan Sandvick.
Police said Sandvick was killed in a stabbing sometime early on the morning of Aug. 15. His body was found at the Colorado Fallen Firefighters Memorial just before 7 a.m.
His body was found about seven hours after another man was stabbed at the park. Lakewood police have been investigating whether the two incidents are related. The victim in the earlier stabbing was identified Wednesday as 19-year-old Ivan Rodriguez.
They said Monday the suspect in that stabbing was a white or Hispanic man in his late teens or early 20s who is approximately 6 feet tall and 150 pounds with short, black hair. He was clean-shaven and wearing a black hoody and black pants at the time of the stabbing, police said.
Orozco was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center on suspicion of first degree murder.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
