SAN JUAN COUNTY, Colo. — A 56-year-old Lafayette woman camping with two other women in San Juan County was killed when a tree fell on their tent late Monday night, according to a Facebook post from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

Beth Skelley was identified as the victim. Her two companions are safe and well, the post read.

The three women were hiking the Colorado Trail and set up camp under Grizzly Peak.

The sheriff’s office said Skelley was flown to a Durango hospital, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.
