AURORA, Colo. – The Food Bank of the Rockies is teaming up with Aurora Public Schools to kick off its summer food program for children.

Kids Fest will officially begin Tuesday morning at Hinkley High School. The event will feature free breakfast and lunch, a mini food pantry, a DJ, kids activities and more.

The nonprofit says one in six Colorado kids doesn’t know where their next meal is coming from and it wants to ensure that they don’t go hungry over the summer when they are not in school.

The food bank has gotten a lot of support from the community to afford to keep running the summer program, including the Aurora police and fire departments, the Aurora Public Library and more.

The summer food programs are spread out throughout the community. To find the closest one to you, click here.

There are some requirements. The kids must be under 18 and the parents are not allowed to eat off of the children’s plates. There is no income requirement.

Kid Fest kicks runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
