DENVER – A 15-year-old from Kansas has died following a skiing accident at Breckenridge Ski Resort over the weekend.
Wichita ABC affiliate KAKE reports Tess Smith, a sophomore at Wichita Northwest High School, broke her leg on Friday and later became unresponsive. The details surrounding the incident weren’t clear.
Smith was being cared for at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, where she died Sunday night. Smith’s family decided to donate the teen’s organs.
A GoFundMe account set up in Smith’s honor had raised more than $17,000 as of Monday evening.
