Two Douglas County Sheriff's Office K-9s and their handlers are credited with finding $100,000 in illegal pot.
Last Wednesday, deputies said they stopped a car on a traffic violation. K-9 Colt checked the vehicle and alerted that he smelled something.
"During the search of this vehicle K-9 Colt located 20lbs of marijuana in the back of the car," the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
Eleven days earlier, deputies stopped another car on a traffic offense. In that case, K-9 Atlas checked the vehicle and also alerted deputies to the possible presence of a controlled substance.
"During the vehicle search, 30lbs of marijuana were located," officials said.
While investigators say the two cases are not linked, they did say the two cases took $100,000 worth of marijuana off the streets.
