Juveniles drive car into Westminster home following alleged Arvada burglary, police say

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Two juveniles are accused of burglarizing an Arvada residence and crashing a stolen vehicle into a home in Westminster Wednesday morning.

Around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, the Westminster Police Department received a call about possible gunshots heard along the 6900 block of Stuart Street. When officers arrived, they quickly found a suspect vehicle, the police department said, however the driver did not stop for police.

During a short pursuit, the suspect drove into Arvada and crashed into a home along the 8000 block of Harlan Street.

Nobody was injured in the crash.

Police said two juvenile males were inside the car, which had been stolen. Police also found two handguns in the car.

The two juveniles were taken into custody, police said.

Police said they determined that around 1 a.m. Wednesday, the juveniles had burglarized a home along the 6100 block of Johnson Street in Arvada, where the vehicle was stolen.

When police spoke with the homeowners, they said they weren't aware of the burglary or that their vehicle had been stolen.

Police said they found shell casings on the 6900 block of Stuart Street, where the gunshots had originally been reported. There were no reported injuries or property damage.

Police are investigating how the juveniles came to possess the firearms.
