JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. – A reported attempted abduction in Jefferson County earlier this month turned out to be a "miscommunication" between the driver of a van and a child, authorities said Thursday.
The sheriff's office said the attempted abduction allegations were unfounded and that the investigation was closed.
Update to tweet from Sept 1 re: attempted abduction: Investigators have determined there was no attempted abduction but rather a miscommunication between what the driver said and what the child heard. The attempted abduction is unfounded and the investigation is now closed. https://t.co/nwmrwXPiQh

The encounter happened about 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 in the 8600 block of West Progress Place, where a child reported that a man driving a white van told children to "get in the van."
Investigators located the driver, and the sheriff's office on Thursday said the incident wasn't an attempted kidnapping, "but rather a miscommunication between what the driver said and what the child heard."
