JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are looking for a man who broke into a woman’s home and sexually assaulted her.
The assault occurred Nov. 20 in the 15000 block of South Golden Road near the city of Golden in unincorporated Jefferson County.
Deputies say the victim had just gone to bed when she was awoken by the man breaking into her home.
At first, the woman told deputies she thought the intruder was a relative but quickly realized it was a stranger when the suspect began to attack and sexually assault her.
After the assault, the suspect left the victim's home. At that point, the woman called 911.
The victim told investigators that she had never encountered him before in the area and believes the attacker might be homeless.
Deputies searched nearby homeless camps but have been unable to identify the suspect.
