International rugby league match coming to Denver in June

DENVER - The Mile High City will play host to an international rugby league match later this year.

The inaugural Rugby League Football International Challenge will take place at the stadium formerly known as Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, June 23, 2018.

New Zealand will face off against England in the first of three North American matches, according to the New Zealand Herald.

New Zealand Rugby League officials said the game is a chance to gain some fans on the continent.

"This test match is an opportunity to showcase the highest level of our sport in the North American market, which has significant participation and commercial potential," NZRL chairman Reon Edwards told the Herald. "NZRL has worked with the Rugby Football League and the Rugby League International Federation on this, agreeing to play a New Zealand-England Test in the United States each year for the next three years."

Tickets for the New Zealand-England match go on sale on Monday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at rugbyleaguechallenge.com.
