LOGAN COUNTY, Colo. — Winter hasn't yet let up on its grasp of Colorado, but wildfire season has already begun.

Dry conditions throughout winter on the eastern plains combined with harsh winds that cropped up on Monday created the perfect conditions for a massive fire that has already chewed through homes in Logan and Phillips Counties.

The fire ripped through 30,000 acres, and was only 80 percent contained on Monday. Flames died down overnight, when one passenger on a plane was able to capture the size of the fire during a flyover.

The fire is an example of how quickly a spark can turn into a devastating fire. Learn more about the fire here.
