Incident at EZPAWN in Lakewood ends with 1 person in police custody

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — About two and a half hours after a Lakewood business's alarm went off early Wednesday morning, one person was taken into custody.

Around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, police with the Lakewood Police Department responded to an alarm at the EZPAWN on the southwest corner of W. Colfax Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard, said Lindsay Jones with the police department. Agents were trying to contact a suspect who was believed to be inside the business, which was closed at the time, she said.

AIRTRACKER7 flew over the scene, which showed that the front window if the store had been smashed in. Officers with guns stood behind their vehicles. Several officers also stood at a side door, which appeared to be broken.

Around 6:50 a.m., one person was put in handcuffs. They were put in the back of a police vehicle.

Denver7 is working to learn more about the incident.

Southbound Wadsworth Boulevard was closed from W. 20th Avenue to W. Colfax Avenue. Eastbound W. Colfax Aveue was closed at Allison Street. All roads reopened by 7:40 a.m.
