LAKEWOOD, Colo. – A 43-year-old Lakewood woman who had a child in her minivan died after a fatal crash involving five other vehicles Monday morning in Lakewood.

Anna Huffman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the westbound lanes of Alameda Avenue at the intersection of Oak Street.

The young boy in the minivan was transported to Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He continues to fight for his life as of Tuesday, police said.

Lakewood police continue their investigation but have determined that five vehicles were stopped at a red light when a Ford pickup rear-ended Huffman’s minivan, causing it to collide with the car in front of it and creating a chain reaction crash.

The driver of the pickup, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital for observation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Police say there was no apparent indication that drugs or alcohol were involved. No charges have yet been filed.
